The problems aren't bugs; they're consequences of design decisions that may have made sense a decade ago, but don't align with how JavaScript developers write code today.
This makes sense. These keys were designed as project identifiers for billing, and can be further restricted with (bypassable) controls like HTTP referer allow-listing. They were not designed as authentication credentials.
